Doctor’s always preach about the benefits of eating healthy and working out. “If you could just lose 10 lbs.,” they’d say. I started my journey of eating healthy and working out in January 2014. I had just spent the weekend with my closest family and that is where I met Frank. Frank is best friends with my cousin and we were all in Nashville, TN for New Years. Frank kept talking about being a trainer and how he was going to train all of my cousins (who work out daily and are in awesome shape.) I on the other hand have always been overweight and had basically given up on the idea that working out and eating healthy would work. How Frank, in Idaho, came to be my trainer, in Indiana, is fuzzy. But in January 2014 we started to train. At first it was kind of awkward. Sorry, Frank, but you know it was. We barely knew each other and we were training via FaceTime. I had my iPad set up in my living room and moved my coffee table to have a place to train. But what happened in the next week honestly changed everything. Frank sent me all of the materials I needed to train with him, including a meal plan. I strictly followed the plan that first week and guess what? I saw results. I had lost weight. So I continued to follow the plan and trained twice a week with Frank. Guess what happened next? I continued to lose weight. Before I go on any further, I need to state that it wasn’t all sunshine and roses. I was so sore after the first session; I could barely walk down the flight of stairs to leave my apartment. But the pain fades and I found myself wanting to push to be sore again. I liked the pain. It reminded me that I was working on something that was going to positively impact me. What I have gained from losing with Frank is 1, an enjoyment of physical activity. I find that if I don’t work out, I don’t feel as good as if I had worked out. 2, I was at serious risk of high blood pressure and being on medication, high blood sugar and probably a list of other things I was too young to be worrying about. All of that has gone drastically down and my doctor's are pretty proud of me. 3, and this is probably the most important to me, but I have gained so much confidence in myself and who I am and what I am capable of. Training with Frank, even via FaceTime, has been life changing and I am so grateful for his support and knowledge, (even though I am sometimes sore and want to hate him.) He is an awesome support system!
