Over an ice cream cone at Silverwood, my 9 year-old son looked at me and said, "Mom, I want you to get healthy." I looked at him and said, "Okay...but why?" He said, "Because if there's ever a zombie apocalypse, I'm afraid you'll be one of the first ones eaten." I laughed at first, before I realized he was only partially joking. My son wanted me to be in better shape, he wanted me to be healthier because he loved me and wanted me around for as long as possible. Plus, you never know about that zombie apocalypse thing. =) So, in July 2013, we started on a new mission as a family. We've referred to it in fun as our mission to get "zombie-quick," but better health and fun family activities have been the driving force behind our motivational mission. My husband had been working with Frank for several months, and my son had been doing some training in preparation for the upcoming football season, and I decided it was time for me to be part of FBGBG training too. With Frank's help, over the past 9 months, I've changed my eating style, my training and exercise style and my mental style too. Frank has a great way with people. He's able to motivate and challenge me in just the right way. I don't feel overwhelmed with the mountainous weight-loss task I was climbing, but instead I've felt equipped to take on the world. Frank has been an amazing emotional support too, because so much of this battle isn't just the physical and mental struggles of making good food and activity choices, but the emotional tug-of-war that I've endured for much of my life has been tackled through his training too. When you've spent a lot of your life opting out of anything too physical, it's hard to see myself actually completing some of the exercises he's asked me to do. But Frank always adapts, changes things up so no matter what so I only compete with myself...he challenges me to be better, and I'm thankful for that. I've lost almost forty pounds and a few pant and shirt sizes since starting with Frank. But I'm more mentally tough than I've ever been in my lifetime. Our family is better, my work life is better, I'm achieving personal goals with a renewed ambition and perseverance that I've never had, and I truly attribute this to my friend Frank. I highly recommend FBGB training to anyone looking to not just lose weight or get healthier, but someone who is also looking for an entire reboot on their outlook and attitude on life in general. And our family motto going into this next summer is, "Bring on the zombies, we can take 'em!"
